Mansell's to Develop ADR3

MANSELL SIGNED BY ADR ENGINEERING TO DEVELOP THE NEW ADR3

The 2004 Autosport young driver of the year finalist Scott Mansell has been signed up by ADR engineering as the teams official test driver to help develop the new ADR3.

The ADR3 car will compete in the Britsports and VdeV championships this season and the young Brands Hatch Indy lap record holder is looking forward to the challenge.

"The car is superbly engineered and will be quick out of the box. I will also race the car at some of the UK rounds this season, which I am really looking forward to."

"I have been brought in to develop the ADR3 car, which will race in the V-de-V series in Europe, the Bikesports series and the Britsports series over here," Mansell told Crash.net Radio. "I have not driven the car yet, hopefully I will be in it soon, but the engineering looks very good and it should be quick out of the box.

"I have been involved with a man called Max Wakefield since my EuroBOSS days and he has been involved with this project so he put me in contact with Adrian [Daniels – ADR managing director] and it has gone from there."

The decision to employ Mansell as a development driver may be surprising considering his age, but he explains that he is more than adept at developing such a vehicle – especially having worked with the ex-F1 Benetton that carried him to his EuroBOSS crown.

"I think that my strength as a driver is that I am quite good at car set-up," he said. "I am fairly involved with the mechanical knowledge of the car, so I know quite a lot about the springs and dampers so hopefully I will be able to develop the car quickly for Adrian and the team.

"I worked on the Benetton so I know all the mechanics and how the advanced parts work so I should be ok on this ADR car."

Mansell also isn't ruling out the chance of racing the car at some point in the future.

"When the car is quick, we are looking at doing some of the V-de-V and Britsports rounds," he said. "It is another string to my bow and whatever I can do, I need to do at the moment. I am not going to turn down the chance to race one of these fantastic cars."
